KidSport™ Calgary, KidSport™ Okotoks and Comrie’s Sports Equipment Bank are pleased to welcome the Wood Automotive Group (WAG) as a new partner. All five WAG dealerships will become drop-off locations for donated sports equipment, and will help KidSport raise awareness of our core program, which is to provide financial assistance to children from low income families so they can participate in organized sport.
“We’re very excited to have the Wood Automotive Group come on board,” says Kevin Webster, executive director, KidSport™ Calgary. “The demand and need to support families keeps growing so it’s important to have partner like WAG to step up to the plate. Having convenient locations throughout the community where people can drop off their donations, is also a big benefit to growing our reach.”
The public can drop off gently used sporting equipment to any of the five Wood Automotive Group dealerships including Woodridge Ford Lincoln located in Douglasdale in the SE, Big 4 Motors and Advantage Ford both located off of Macleod Trail South, Village Honda in the Northwest Auto Mall and Okotoks Ford Lincoln.
“Keeping children fit and active is essential,” says Gerry Wood, president, Wood Automotive Group. “So we must break down the financial barriers that prevent our youth from participating in sports. I want to congratulate KidSport in both Calgary and Okotoks, and Comrie’s Sports Equipment Bank, lead by Al Coates, board chair, for their efforts and dedication to our youth.”
To launch the partnership, the WAG dealership will host a series of live “Big Show” radio shows on SN960 throughout May and June to encourage listeners to bring in their donations. “There will be special pickup trucks at every dealership and our goal is to fill them so they are overflowing with equipment,” says Gerry Wood. “For the benefit of kids in our community, let’s make it happen!”
